Master of Audiology

The Master of Audiology program at Flinders University commenced in February 1998. This innovative four semester (two year full-time) course uses problem-based learning (PBL) as its main teaching/learning method.


About the Course

The course is designed to provide a comprehensive academic and clinical education in Audiology, sufficient to meet the membership requirements of the Audiological Society of Australia on graduation. It offers opportunities for supervised clinical learning in a wide range of diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological settings, both in South Australia and in the Northern Territory. Practice in Primary Health Care settings, including in rural and remote areas. Students have the opportunity to complete block placements throughout the country in the second year of the course

Entry Requirements

The course is open to graduates of recognised undergraduate degrees. Students of science and other areas related to audiology, such as linguistics, medicine, physics, psychology, special education and speech pathology may find some material in the course familiar, no restriction is placed on applicants undergraduate degrees. Student selection is based upon the applicant's academic record and performance at a personal structured interview.

Course Format

All students must study full-time. We use problem-based learning methods and co-operative group learning techniques to teach audiological and related skills and knowledge. In this way students will obtain an understanding of the developmental, medical, psychological and acoustical theories behind audiological procedures and interventions while acquiring expertise in the clinical processes.

Course Fees

The Master of Audiology program is a full fee paying course. The International student fee will be $27,720 per annum for the 2008 program. Fees for Australian students for the 2008 intake will be $13,860 per annum.
